How to Choose the Right Ironing Board Cover Size

Buying a new ironing board cover seems simple – until you realize they come in different sizes. Get the wrong fit, and you will struggle with a cover that slips, bunches, or simply does not stay in place.

Here is how to measure your ironing board and choose the perfect cover.

Step 1: Measure Your Board

You will need two measurements:

  • Width: Measure across the narrowest part of your ironing surface
  • Length: Measure from the narrow end to the wide end (the nose)

Step 2: Know the Standard Sizes

The most common ironing board size in the US is 15×54 inches (width x length). This fits the majority of household ironing boards. For this size, we recommend our BNDX Standard Size Ironing Board Cover.

If you have a larger “mega” or hotel-style board, you may need an 18×49 inch cover. Check out our BNDX Extra Wide Ironing Board Cover for these larger boards.

Step 3: Check the Fit System

Look for covers with:

  • Drawstring tighteners – Best for a custom, secure fit
  • Bungee cord systems – Easy to adjust
  • Elastic edges – Simple but may loosen over time

Step 4: Consider the Padding

A good ironing board cover should have thick, dense padding (at least 4mm). Thin padding transfers heat to the board and creates uneven ironing surfaces. Our BNDX Heat Resistant Ironing Board Cover features premium 4-layer padding for the best ironing experience.

No Board? Try an Ironing Mat

If you do not have an ironing board or need a portable solution, consider our BNDX Ironing Mat. It transforms any flat surface into an instant ironing station – perfect for apartments, dorms, and travel.
